Henrietta M. Fekkers

Henrietta Marie Fekkers, age 91, was born on March 24, 1921 on a farm in rural Aplington, Iowa the daughter of Kobus and Ella (Bierman) Fekkers. She graduated from Aplington High School in 1938. Henrietta lived on a farm north of Aplington and in 1961, Henrietta along with her father and her step-mother, Miriam, moved to their new home in Aplington.

Henrietta was a member of First Reformed Church in Aplington, where she was a Sunday School teacher for 32 years. She was also a member of several church circles and the women’s guild. Henrietta was employed at Bill Klinkenbergs Grocery and then as a teller at Aplington Bank. She retired after 30 years of service at the bank. Henrietta enjoyed photography and working in her garden. She loved to work and to serve others. Henrietta was a devout Christian and a loving person.

Henrietta died February 12, 2013 at Maple Manor Village in Aplington. She was preceded in death by her parents, Kobus and Ella Fekkers and her step-mother, Miriam Fekkers and one sister, Jeanette Buss.

Henrietta is survived by one brother, James (Lori) Fekkers of Aplington; four nieces and their families; many cousins and friends.

Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 15, 2013, at the First Reformed Church in Aplington, with burial in the Pleasant View Cemetery in Aplington.

Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, at the Redman-Schwartz Chapel in Aplington, (319)347-6275, and one hour before services at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the family.
