Fannie Jungling

Fannie Jungling, age 101, of Parkersburg, was born on November 5, 1911, on the family farm in Grundy County, Iowa, the daughter of George and Maggie (Peters) Mennen. She attended rural country school near her home.

Fannie was united in marriage with Oliver Jungling on February 12, 1935, at the Bethel Reformed Church in Aplington. The couple made their home in Parkersburg where they remained their entire lives.

Fannie was a Charter member of Hope Reformed Church in Parkersburg, was active in the Ladies Guild and was also a member of the Legion Auxiliary. In her free time, she enjoyed crocheting, golfing, quilting, gardening and traveling in the camper to visit their children. Perhaps one of her greatest joys was time spent with her family.

Fannie died on Tuesday, January 22, 2013, at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo, of natural causes. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Oliver on April 9, 1987; three brothers, Ecko, Bruno and Jessie Mennen; two son-in-laws, Jeff Stevenson and William J. Hassman.

Fannie is survived by two sons, Gerald (Verla) Jungling of San Diego, CA and Gaylen (Missy) Jungling of Tallahassee, FL; two daughters, Ellen Stevenson of Warrenville, IL and Mavis Hassman of Aplington, IA; eight grandchildren, Heidi (Mark) Woodworth, Mike (Nancy) Jungling, Brian Jungling, Gayle Lozano, Ginny Mendoza, Pat (Jerry) Brown, Marcia Alarcon and Greg Hassman; 17 great-grandchildren, Amanda and Garrett Woodworth, Nathan and Clayton Jungling, Luke, Logan and Lauren Taylor Lozano, Adrianna, Cross and Dalten Mendoza, Alex, Damion, Morgan and Maggie Brown, Marcus Alarcon, Cody Davis and Dylan Hassman; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, January 26, 2013, at Hope Reformed Church with burial in Oak Hill Cemetery, both in Parkersburg.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m., Friday at Redman-Schwartz Funeral Home in Parkersburg, (319)346-1534 and will continue for one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.

Memorials may be directed to the family.
