Keith James Barkman-Lucas, age 20 of Clarksville, Iowa, was born the son of David and Michelle (Busching) Lucas on February 17, 1992, in Canton, Ohio. He attended Clarksville High School and graduated in 2011.
Keith was always full of life and took things as they came. He had a love for all sports, but was especially a fan of the Dallas Cowboys, Iowa Hawkeyes and Chicago Cubs. He enjoyed playing video games and watching Law & Order SVU. Keith was the football manager while in high school which he enjoyed very much. He was able to form a special bond with many of his classmates and team members. Those who knew Keith will always remember him for being a “ladies man”.
Keith also enjoyed the time he was able to spend with his family as well as their two St. Bernards, Otto and Bear. As one of Keith’s final request, his brain was donated to Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia in the hope of furthering research and someday finding a cure for Lesch-Nyhan’s. Keith was also an organ and tissue donor through the Iowa Donor Network.
Keith passed away Saturday, April 21, 2012, at ChildServe in Johnston, Iowa, from complications of Lesch-Nyhan disease. He was preceded in death by his brother Daniel on November 13, 2010; paternal grandparents, Fenton Lucas and Gale Lucas; maternal grandparents, Laverne and Ruth Busching; two uncles, Dan Lucas and Ken Howard.
Keith is survived by his parents, David and Michelle Lucas of Clarksville, Iowa; grandparents, Roy and Joyce Ludy of Malvern, Ohio; and many special friends and family members.
