William Nathan Bailey

William Nathan Bailey, 84, went to be with his Heavenly Father on April 16, 2012, while residing with his daughter in Parkersburg, IA under Cedar Valley Hospice Care after a long illness.

William was born in Chinchilla, PA on Oct 27, 1927 to William Nathan Bailey Sr. and Florence Marshall Bailey. He had two sisters, Ruth (Knapp) and Mildred (Glover), and the family then moved to Endicott, NY where he graduated from high school. William started his 39-year career with IBM in 1951 and worked his way up to a Quality Control Engineer. He worked with IBM in Endicott, NY, Charlotte NC, Singapore, and Florida.

He married Dorothy Ogden and they raised five children in Endicott, NY, and then moved to Mooresville, NC in 1979. William is survived by his wife, their children and spouses Mary Smith (Gene) Tegucigalpa Honduras, Joan Hiebert (Gordon) Sayre, PA, Anne Snedaker (Lynn) Ovid, NY, Judson Bailey (Becky) Groton, NY, and Charlotte Frank (Gary) Parkersburg, IA. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 20 great-grand children, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

William carried his quality control ethics with him in all his activities of restoring antique cars, woodworking and fixing things. He was a member of several car clubs including Antique Automobile Club of America, Iroquois Region, NC Drivers Club Region, and Hornets Nest Region, and Studebakers Drivers Club Keystone Region and NC Region.

He is preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Ruth Knapp and Mildred Glover.

His faith in God gave his life direction, passion and hope which will be evident at the memorial service in Coddle Creek ARP Church, Mooresville NC. at a later date.
